TREATMENT FOCUS

It's important to recognize that therapy for black and brown individuals should be culturally competent, which means that the therapist should take into account the unique experiences and challenges faced by black and brown communities. This can include issues such as racism, discrimination, and microaggressions. The intersection of race and gender is a cornerstone of my practice.

Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and strength-based practices, I can assist you in achieving your goals by providing a gentle, patient and friendly approach. This means that our interactions will be focused on identifying and understanding your thinking patterns, emotions and behaviors, and how they relate to the challenges you're experiencing. Together, we can work to re-frame negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones to implement new behaviors leading to long-lasting changes.

Client Support

Therapy for the POC (People Of Color) community, may involve exploring and addressing the inter-generational trauma and historical oppression that has affected many communities of color.

I aim to allow you to feel more comfortable discussing certain topics or experiences with a therapist who shares your racial identity or has experience working with marginalized communities.
